Configuration 3
CB3-M20 modules never run alone; every cluster needs one CB3-HVC control module, ordered separately.
- Modules: each CB3-M20 holds 20.096 kWh at 64 V; a cluster spans 60 to 260 kWh, which is 3 to 13 modules by simple arithmetic.
- Control module: the CB3-HVC carries cluster control, DC switching and the BMS link over CAN and RS485, across a 150 to 1000 V window.
- Current: both module and control unit are rated 157 A continuous and 200 A maximum.
- Expansion: a second cluster added later needs its own second CB3-HVC.
SAJ states the CB3 battery is compatible with the SAJ CH2 and CH3 series inverters; it is a high-voltage battery and does not pair with low-voltage residential inverters.
- Voltage match: the CH3 battery input of 750 to 950 V sits inside the CB3-HVC window of 150 to 1000 V and inside the CB3-L261 range of 728 to 936 V.
- Cluster sizing: hold the cluster between 60 and 260 kWh so it lands in the inverter's working window.
- CHS3 note: SAJ markets the 125 kW / 261 kWh pairing of the CH3-125K-T8 with the CB3-L261 as the CHS3 solution; both parts ship as separate line items.
Clusters parallel from a single rack up to utility scale.
- Per cluster: 60 to 260 kWh of CB3-M20 modules behind one CB3-HVC, or 261 kWh per CB3-L261 cabinet.
- System ceiling: parallel clusters reach 1.25 MW and 10.4 MWh, per SAJ, for on-grid and off-grid applications.
- Storage duration: the L261 supports two to eight hour durations, set by how many cabinets sit behind the inverter.
- Phasing: each cluster added in a later project phase needs its own CB3-HVC control module.
Installation & wiring 1
The M20 stack belongs in a plant room; the L261 is the IP55 liquid-cooled cabinet for harsher placement.
- CB3-M20: IP20, 148 kg per module, stacks directly without extra brackets, ambient humidity 5 to 85 percent, up to 3000 m altitude.
- CB3-L261: IP55, liquid-cooled, 261 kWh in one cabinet at up to 2400 kg, C4-Medium anti-corrosion, -25 to +55 C, noise at or below 75 dB at 1 m.
- Fire safety: the L261 carries pack-level and cabinet-level aerosols plus a water sprinkler.
- Foundation note: the preliminary SAJ sheet prints an implausible 103 x 2300 x 1400 mm dimension for the L261; ask us for the released drawing before you plan the foundation.
Operation & warranty 1
SAJ backs the CB3-M20 cells with a 10 year warranty; the duty limits below frame the daily cycle.
- Warranty: 10 years on the cells, per SAJ.
- Depth of discharge: 95 percent on the CB3-M20.
- Current: 157 A rated and 200 A maximum charging and discharging on the module; the L261 runs at 0.5P with a 188 A maximum.
- Temperature: the M20 charges at 0 to 55 C and discharges at -10 to 55 C, so an unheated room that drops below freezing blocks charging; the L261 operates from -25 to +55 C.
