CHOOSING THE RIGHT DIRECTION

Start with the problem, not the product category.

You do not always need to know whether a project is “residential,” “C&I” or “utility” before speaking to Linker. These questions help identify the right place to begin.

When does a project move from residential storage into commercial storage?
There is no single power or capacity number that automatically changes the category. A project starts to behave more like a commercial system when site demand, operating schedules, larger three-phase loads, outdoor storage requirements or business-energy objectives become important to the equipment decision. The application matters as much as the number on the inverter.
When should I consider an outdoor C&I storage cabinet?
Outdoor cabinet systems can make sense where the project needs more capacity than a typical residential battery system, where commercial power levels are required or where available indoor space is limited. The final choice should consider product rating, site conditions, access, clearances and the application.
What separates C&I storage from utility-scale BESS?
Utility projects typically move into larger power and energy blocks, more complex control architectures and applications where storage forms part of wider energy or grid infrastructure. Instead of selecting a single cabinet, the project may involve multiple BESS blocks, PCS architecture, plant controls and MW/MWh-level operating requirements.
Can Linker help if I do not know which category my project belongs to?
Yes. Start with what you know: the site, approximate power or storage requirement, electricity demand, intended application or preferred brand. That information can be used to narrow the relevant equipment options and direct the enquiry toward the right solution range.
Does every larger storage project require the same grid documentation?
No. Grid and product-document requirements depend on the equipment, project scale, connection point, country and network operator. The exact products and project conditions should be identified before assuming which certificates or technical documents are required.
Is liquid cooling only used for utility-scale storage?
No. Liquid cooling is common in higher-density commercial and utility battery systems, but thermal-management architecture varies by brand and product. The cooling method should be treated as a product characteristic rather than a strict dividing line between C&I and utility storage.
