Yes. TUV Rheinland has issued a certificate of conformity to VDE-AR-N 4105/11.18 and DIN VDE V 0124-100 (certificate A3 50706429 0001, dated 12.01.2026) that explicitly covers the GWxxK-ETA-G20 type range including the GW12K-ETA-G20.

Configuration 3

The ESA uses GoodWe’s stackable BAT-D-G20/G21 modules in four sizes: 5.12, 6.0, 8.32 and 9.0 kWh (usable 5.01 / 5.82 / 8.01 / 8.72 kWh).

  • System scale: up to 12 modules connect per system, maximum 6 per stacked column, for up to 108 kWh
  • Mixing modules: GoodWe explicitly supports mixing batteries of different capacities and combining old and new modules, so a system can start small and grow
  • Cycle life: the 6.0 and 9.0 kWh modules are rated >=10,000 cycles and have integrated heating for charging in freezing weather; the 5.1 and 8.3 kWh modules are rated >=8,000 cycles (heating optional on the G20 version)
  • Enclosure: all modules are IP66 with integrated aerosol fire extinguishing

Yes, whole-home backup is native.

  • Design: dual-port with an internal bypass (63 A passthrough on this class; if the customer keeps the existing main breaker, the breaker size is simply set in the SolarGo/SEMS+ app), so no external transfer switch or STS box is required
  • Switchover: under 4 ms on grid failure
  • Backup power: GW12K-ETA-G20 delivers 12 kVA nominal backup power and 13.2 kVA continuous (24.0 kVA for 10 s) off-grid
  • Unbalanced load: tolerates up to 6 kW of unbalanced load on a single phase per the user manual
  • Overload: covers motor and compressor starts for about 10 seconds at roughly twice nominal power

Per the ESA user manual, every ETA-G20 model can be connected to GoodWe AC charging piles (e.g. the HCA G2 wallboxes), so PV-surplus EV charging runs inside the same GoodWe ecosystem and SEMS+ app.

  • Generator support: built in; the ESA supports generator control and generator charging of the battery; GoodWe requires a GMK330 or GM330 smart meter for the generator connection

This makes a complete package of PV, storage, backup, EV charging and generator input from one vendor.

Operation & warranty 2

Inverter warranty

Under GoodWe’s European limited warranty (Rev 3.9, effective 5 March 2026), residential hybrid inverters including the ESA 5-30k series produced on or after 1 January 2026 carry a 10-year limited warranty (5 years for units produced earlier), starting from first installation or 12 months after production, whichever comes first.

Battery warranty

The ESA battery modules follow GoodWe’s battery warranty policy, no model-specific capacity-retention figure is published for the BAT-D-G20 modules, so request the current battery warranty document with your quote.

GoodWe promotes the ESA as the first TUV-certified low-noise residential integrated system: operating noise as low as 30 dB at 25 C ambient on the 5-8 kW classes (WHO indoor night guideline is <=30 dB(A)), with a custom low-noise fan, real-time temperature control and an ultra-silent mode. The system is IP66-rated against dust and water for outdoor mounting and operates down to -20 C — note that -20 C operation requires the battery heating module, which is integrated in the 6.0/9.0 kWh modules and optional on the 5.1/8.3 kWh G20 modules.
