Yes, within the EK90 BU5 family: because every pack has its own DC-DC optimizer with fully independent charge/discharge, SAJ's design explicitly supports seamless capacity expansion without the stack degrading to the weakest module — the published system ladder (6 to 54 kWh in steps like 12/13/15/16 kWh etc.) is built from combinations of the 6/7/9 kWh packs. Verify the exact combination against SAJ's battery-combination datasheet before ordering, and note these are EK90-generation packs — they do not retrofit older SAJ HS2/HS3/B2 systems.
Up to 6 packs per EK90 HS5 system, stacked blind-mate on a BE5-TV battery base (or wall-mounted via the BT5-TV bracket) with no inter-module cabling — the electrical and communication connections mate automatically as the pack seats. That takes a capacity extension from a wiring job to a lifting job; observe the pack weight when planning the lift.
Usable equals total — 100% depth of discharge per SAJ's manual. This pack stores 9 kWh and can charge/discharge at up to 4600 W (11.8 A) on its own optimizer; a stack's total power scales with the number of packs, capped by the inverter's battery interface. Cycle life is rated 10,000 cycles in the manual (12,000 in SAJ's lab-condition marketing figure).

SAJ headlines UL 9540A & UL 9540B battery-safety testing for the EK90 system and lists the 5-layer pack protection: V2 flame-retardant material, full-coverage temperature sensing, thermal insulation board, thermal aerosol fire suppression and a decompression valve. The batteries pass UN38.3 for transport as dangerous goods — use a qualified carrier and keep the original packaging for any return shipment.

SAJ's EK90 documents state 'refer to the warranty policy' — no capacity-retention percentage is published for this model, and SAJ's HS5 marketing carries a 15-year warranty headline at system level.
