Configuration 2

The A100-HY and A300-HY are AC-coupled storage cabinets with the inverter stage built in. The L417-BAT is battery-only, intended for large plants with a separate central inverter.

  • A100-HY: 104 kWh nominal per cabinet with integrated 25 kW or 50 kW inverter blocks, up to 500 kW total.
  • A300-HY: 313 kWh nominal per cabinet with 50 kW inverter blocks, also up to 500 kW.
  • L417-BAT: 417 kWh per cabinet with no inverter section on its datasheet; Pylontech specifies an external inverter of 1,000 to 2,500 kW.
  • Closed system: the OPTIM US range has no third-party battery or inverter port, so mixing with other vendors' hardware is not supported.

Each model scales by paralleling cabinets. Per Pylontech's datasheets:

  • A100-HY: one cabinet holds 52 or 104 kWh; up to 5 cabinets reach 520 kWh, and up to 10 inverter blocks reach 500 kW.
  • A300-HY: one cabinet holds 156.8 or 219/250/313 kWh; 5 cabinets reach 1,565 kWh, again with up to 500 kW of inverter capacity.
  • L417-BAT: up to 12 cabinets in parallel; the stated system range is 2,085 to 5,004 kWh with an external inverter of 1,000 to 2,500 kW.
  • Planning note: on the HY models the cabinet table and the inverter table step independently, so quote cabinet count and inverter count separately.

Installation & wiring 2

No. The datasheets list no PV or MPPT input on any of these cabinets, including the HY models. PV stays on its own inverters and the cabinet works on the AC side.

  • A100-HY / A300-HY: the integrated stage is a bidirectional grid inverter; the operation logic covers peak shaving, energy shifting, self-consumption and backup.
  • L417-BAT: a DC battery cabinet only; all conversion happens in the external 1,000 to 2,500 kW inverter.
  • Design consequence: size the site's PV inverters independently, then size the cabinet for the shifting or backup duty it has to carry.

Per Pylontech's datasheets, all three are outdoor IP55 cabinets with built-in aerosol fire suppression, but cooling, climate range and weight differ.

  • A100-HY: air cooled, -20 to 50 C, up to 2,000 m altitude, 1.9 t including battery.
  • A300-HY: air cooled, -20 to 55 C, up to 3,000 m, 3.5 t.
  • L417-BAT: liquid cooled, -25 to 55 C, up to 4,000 m, 3.67 t.
  • Corrosion class: C3 as standard; C5 optional on A100-HY and L417-BAT.
  • Control interfaces: Modbus TCP/IP and RTU on A100-HY, RS485/LAN/CAN on A300-HY, Ethernet Modbus TCP and CAN on L417-BAT.

Availability & compliance 1

The certificate sets differ per model, so confirm the exact set for your target market with the quote.

  • A100-HY: Pylontech lists UN38.3, IEC 62619, IEC 62040-1, CE, UKCA, VDE 2510-50, UL 1973, UL 9540A and UL 9540; grid codes include VDE-AR-N 4105, EN 50549-1, EN 50549-10, G99, EIFS 2018.2, IEC 62116 and IEC 61727.
  • A300-HY: a similar product-standard set with the same grid-code list per its datasheet.
  • L417-BAT: IEC 62619, IEC 62040-1, CE, VDE 2510-50, UL 1973 and UL 9540A; no grid-connection codes are listed, and the cabinet connects to the grid through its external 1,000 to 2,500 kW inverter.

Operation & warranty 1

Per Pylontech's datasheets, the range is built for daily cycling, with a backup role on the HY models.

  • Backup transfer: the HY cabinets switch from on-grid to off-grid in under 10 ms and carry 110 percent overload capacity.
  • Cycle life: over 7,000 cycles on A100-HY and A300-HY, over 8,500 on L417-BAT, all at 98 percent single-string depth of discharge.
  • Efficiency: round-trip 95 percent on A100-HY, 96 percent on A300-HY and above 95 percent on L417-BAT, each at 0.5C.
  • Duty modes: peak shaving, energy shifting, self-consumption and backup on the HY models; ancillary service, electricity arbitrage, demand response and backup on L417-BAT.
