DEHN Smart Meter

DEHN DG YPV SCI 1000 (type 2 DC surge arrester, 1000 V PV)

Type 2 DC surge arrester for the PV side of a string inverter, up to 1000 V.

  • Type 2 to EN 50539-11, 1000 V DC max PV voltage, 12.5 kA nominal and 25 kA max discharge
  • Three-step d.c. switching device: disconnects and short-circuits, then isolates - a 1000 V DC arc is extinguished immediately instead of being held
  • Green/red flag per protective circuit, so a spent path is visible without a meter
  • Specified for string-inverter systems to 1000 A short-circuit current, per IEC 60364-7-712

Ask an engineer

Configuration 1

No. This is part number 950 530, which has the green/red indicator flags on the front but no signalling terminal.

If your monitoring needs a dry contact, the part you want is 950 535 (DG YPV SCI 1000 FM), which adds a three-pole floating changeover contact. Ask and we will quote it.

Compatibility 1

No. UCPV is 1000 V, which covers the string inverters we sell — their PV inputs are rated 1000 V. A 1500 V array needs a 1500 V arrester; DEHN makes them (the ME YPV SCI 1500 family) and we can source one.

Installation 1

On the DC side between the array and the inverter, as close to the inverter as the wiring allows, in the combiner or the inverter's own DC compartment. It is a prewired complete unit, so it is a mount-and-connect job, not an assembly.

Protection level UP ≤ 4 kV is what has to sit under your inverter's DC surge withstand — check that figure on the inverter datasheet, not on this page.

Ordering 1

German catalogues list the modular DEHNguard M YPV SCI 1000 (part 952 510) far more prominently than this compact one, and it is easy for a supplier to send it instead. It is a different device.

Its short-circuit current rating is 10 kA. This one is 1000 A. They are not interchangeable, and the compact is the part specified for string inverter systems up to 1000 A. If a delivery arrives as 952 510, it is the wrong item — send it back.

Product information 2

Both. Used in both residential and commercial work. It is filed under one segment because the shop keeps one category per accessory; the part itself is not segment-specific.

Because we do not have one of this part, and we will not show you a different manufacturer's part in its place. Everything on this page is read from the manufacturer's own datasheet, which is linked above.

Ask us and we will send the manufacturer's product images with the quote.
